Turku – Museum of History and the Future
Circulation
The Museum of History and Future fits naturally into the future park, creating a connection between the Aura River and Turku Castle, and between Linnanpuisto Castle Park and the new active harbour area. The theme of our design is literally the word “circulation”. Circulation refers to the actual circular movement in space and continues at the content level. Circling describes the way we constantly develop our understanding of both history and the future in an ever-changing world. The new museum building invites visitors to circulate between culture, history and the future. In addition, the design and form of the museum help to ensure that visitors are in constant and close contact with the beauty of the place as they move through the museum rooms. The large entrance terrace will become a new meeting place in Turku, welcoming both museum visitors and passers-by. In the building, the circular movement continues between the exhibition sections and in the different exhibition contents, which circulate between history and the future.
