Town hall in Schmalkalden-Meiningen

The central part of the Jerusalem neighbourhood, overlooking the Werra Valley, needs a new identity.
The desired extension to the town hall will define the new urban space, complete the market square and, together with the existing town hall, form a common forecourt. The large staircase between the different levels continues into the building and makes it accessible from all sides. The view opens up from the foyer and the council chamber over the Werra valley. The covered steps in the market square can be used as a grandstand for outdoor events with the valley as a backdrop.
