Die Weimarhalle
“It is not a composition of stone, glass and steel, as an… exhibition visitor might imagine, but rather a composition of buildings, flags, floodlights, flowers, fireworks, happy people and white tablecloths.” Alvar Aalto on the 1930 Stockholm Exhibition with Gunnar Asplund as architect.
The listed building was demolished at the client’s request in August 1997 and immediately replaced by a turnkey building. Nevertheless, the cultural year 1999 was celebrated in Weimar.
